Today, 3D art is a lot more like photography than it is art especially if you are attempting a photoreal result.  However, it is, in fact, both.  Not only do you have to compose a scene of 3D objects as you would a painting, you have to place the camera, choose depth of field and place lighting to make the scene appears to be a photo.  The more I can make the image photographic, the more satisfied I am with the result. Unfortunately, this is where so much 3D art fails from packages like Poser and Daz Studio. For me, it's all about expressing volume in space.  Making an object appear to exist in 3D spac

What exactly is art? That is the age old question. It doesn't matter if you're talking about 'old' medium such as paint, canvas, pencil, clay, or metal or if you are discussing 'new' medium such as Poser, Daz, Bryce, Photoshop, Z-Brush or even Maya. The question is still valid and is still unanswered. Basically, the answer lies in the fact that art is in the eye of the beholder. Thus, it's all based on opinion.
